V/A016-066: LoVid and MSHR | Interweave Circulation Vehicle

7" Lathe cut record / 50 Unique Records

Interwave Circulation Vehicle stems from two artists = four people; LoVid + MSHR.

Drawing on their individual and shared audio/visual aesthetic and mutual appreciation of their prior work and process, LoVid and MSHR spent a month enmeshed in collaborating on audiovisual and musical recordings.

To replicate the energy of the live analog recording sessions they created software to digitally generate live unique edits from the recordings. This incarnation of Interwave Circulation Vehicle includes a collection of 50 of these unique musical tracks; each 7” record is 1/1.

Both artists’ practices position handmade electronic instruments, which are also art objects and audio-visual systems, as live compositional environments. For decades, LoVid and MSHR have been creating their own tools for music, video, sound, and light. The choice to design and build a system that is authentic to their artistic vision and practice, stands out in an era of increasing homogenization. This choice is driven by aesthetic, philosophical, and social positions.

During their time together, the two artist duos seamlessly connected their synthesizer instruments and recorded new electronic music. As the instruments connect and electrical signals flow, an immersive and communal feeling grows. Interwave Circulation Vehicle stages a sonic cybernetic experience that pulls the listener close to the live signals.

Interwave Circulation Vehicle was developed as part of the Guild Hall William P. Rayner Artist-in-Residence program.
